If you have a big dog like I do, you need a flat, orthopedic pet mat that is at least 27”x36″ in a dark microsuede material. The fur and drool between washes hides. I also have an espresso-stained dining set and the chair legs and hardware matched the color of the mat in a way that made me think it was intentional. I added a neutral area rug under the dining table in this open room to create two zones. The wood flooring is warm-toned and does not fight for attention.
A better way: Buy the mat cover in the same color family as your biggest piece of furniture. A dark mat with dark wood will make the cat fur disappear between vacuums.
The micro suede bottom of the mattress prevents your dog from slipping and gives your dog a place to sink into. No more couch hogs!
Just don’t say “Dog setup.”

Oh yeah, and the cover is removable. It’s kind of the whole point. My golden retriever is always carrying so much in from outside (mud, grass, anything she rolled in) that a machine washable cover keeps the bed smelling nice and fresh without having to buy a whole new bed every few months.
