Puppy With Broken Leg Rescued After Being Abandoned Alone in the Woods

In a heart-wrenching tale, an 8-month-old puppy braved the wilderness alone for two weeks, battling injury until a kind soul found him and called for help.

Heartlessly abandoned by his owner, the pup was left with his bedding, worn toys, and a sealed bag of dog food, seemingly destined for despair.

Although he wasn’t tied up, the loyal dog remained on his bed, too injured to move. His rescuers quickly realized that his stillness stemmed from pain. The moment he understood he was being rescued, his tail began to wag.

Unfortunately, the local shelter couldn’t cover his medical expenses, and without immediate intervention, he faced euthanasia. Enter Humans and Animals United, a compassionate rescue organization from Florida that took him in and named him Hank.

Upon arrival at the animal hospital, veterinarians discovered that Hank had a broken leg. As the rescue shared, “Hank has been at the veterinary hospital gaining weight for surgery—this poor pup was so emaciated. The surgeon believes his leg has been broken for over two weeks, coinciding with his abandonment in the woods.”

Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedicated veterinary staff, Hank is now safe and receiving vital care. Despite his traumatic past, he remains affectionate towards people and other dogs.

Scheduled for leg surgery soon, Hank will be ready to find his forever home in no time. His rescue story has touched many and is being spread via social media, with Humans and Animals United currently accepting adoption applications for him.

The rescue organization poignantly remarked, “We cannot fathom why someone would leave him with a broken leg, along with his bed, toys, and food. Rest assured, Hank is now safe and will never again be harmed.”
