It’s already spook season! You know I had to get this cute witch hat headband for the pups!
This pointed hat has a black cone and a neat band of light purple yarn around the base. The wavy brim flares out and has nice ripples. I added a matching black headband base so it will stay on your dog. This is from one of my storybook knitted hats.
The stitching is pretty tight, with lots of tight single crochets to hold that pointy shape on top so it doesn’t flop over. If your dog will tolerate you dressing him up for more than 5 minutes, then this is the cutest fall photo op.

Making a crochet cat hat that stays on and doesn’t drive your cat bonkers is actually an art form. I have found the secret to be: negative ease. If you measure your cat’s head and crochet to that exact size, it will just fall off the moment she shakes her head.
Always drop down a hook size from whatever you used for the body when working the brim. This will give a nice hug around the ears.
Another big mistake is to use heavy synthetic fabrics. They trap heat on a cat and it will soon be clawing them off. Cotton is the best fibre to use or a superwash wool blend.
