A small puppy, abandoned by his previous owners, was discovered clutching a piece of bread, which he eagerly presented to those who came to help him. Little Gunnar, who was battling serious health issues like anemia and tick bite fever, was fortunate to have survived against the odds.
According to Sidewalk Specials, Gunnar’s story began in the Groendal township of Franschoek, South Africa. His owners couldn’t afford to spay his mother and decided to give her away while surrendering her puppies for euthanasia. Tragically, Gunnar was overlooked and left to survive alone in the cold for an entire week until Sidewalk Specials came to his rescue.
Rachael from Sidewalk Specials expressed relief at reaching Gunnar just in time. When they found him, his tail wagged with excitement, and his upbeat spirit shone bright, helping him persevere through the tough times.
Shortly after his rescue, Gunnar found a new home with Freya and her partner. Fast forward three years, and that once-tiny puppy is now a charismatic little star with a quirky fascination for rocks. Today, he actively assists his family in fostering other dogs.
Gunnar’s journey showcases the incredible change he has undergone and the joy that fills his life now.
