Authorities are on the lookout for a cruel individual who callously discarded his dog by tossing him over a barbed wire fence at a secluded cell tower.
Surveillance cameras at the California site recorded the shocking event that occurred on December 15.
The alarming video released by Riverside County Animal Services depicts the man flinging the eight-year-old pit bull over the treacherous fence before simply walking away.
A heart-wrenching scene unfolded as a dog narrowly escaped injury from razor wire, landing on the unforgiving ground below. The man responsible for the dog’s ordeal simply walked away, leaving no trace of remorse.
In a stroke of luck, the dog was discovered a few hours later by maintenance workers. They quickly provided the parched pup with multiple bottles of water and reached out to Animal Services for assistance.
Once at the local shelter, a microchip scan identified the dog as KO, belonging to a 30-year-old named Robert Ruiz Jr.
Animal Service officials had high hopes of locating the individual using the registered address and contact number, but both avenues proved fruitless. Their determination remains unwavering as they continue their pursuit to find and prosecute him.
“We are proceeding with the process to obtain an arrest warrant because this individual must face consequences for such a vile act of intentional abandonment,” stated Animal Services Commander Josh Sisler. “We believe the man captured in the video is indeed the dog’s owner. It’s astonishing to witness such behavior. It’s a small miracle that the dog escaped serious harm from the razor wire or the considerable drop.”
The dog, now named Ken, is currently receiving treatment for mucoid discharge affecting his eyes. This 50-pound brown and white pit bull is on the lookout for a caring family to welcome him home.
