This Vizsla Had Enough of Daycare — What Her Family Found Left Everyone Speechless

Then there’s Haarlem, a 13-month-old Vizsla with something else entirely on her mind. Others wait, nap, play, or bark a bit.

When Andrew Koehler’s wife went to Canine Crews in Chicago to pick up their dog, she didn’t get a happy, wagging-tail dog at the gate. She got Haarlem, and he was tentatively perched at the very top of his kennel fence, in the middle of a full-on breakout attempt.

That picture was priceless!  His wife took it and posted it on Reddit with the caption “Went to pick up dog from kennel and found her like this…”  and of course the internet loved it. See the original Reddit post here.

“Completely Insane” — And Completely Lovable

If you’ve ever lived with a Vizsla you know they’re a lot of dog. High energy, bonded to you and not much of a sit-still-in-small-places kind of dog.

“Pretty accurate,” he says. “Haarlem’s infamous at daycare for a.) being bat sh*t crazy, and b.) hating the kennels. If Andrew and I were running late, the staff would just let Haarlem run wild in one of the big play rooms instead of putting her in the kennel and listening to her scream.”

On that day, a new person started working for us, and he put Haarlem in a kennel (it was an open top one).   Haarlem being Haarlem, he took this as an open invitation.

The Moment the Paperwork Went Flying

As soon as he saw his wife come through the door, one of the new people walked up to her with a pile of paperwork. She came around the corner, saw Haarlem at the top of the kennel fence and – well – screamed and threw every piece of paper in the air.

I’m not going to blame her for that. I’d be surprised.

They got a little help and lowered Haarlem back down to the floor. She was fine. Of course. Just that Vizsla look on her face that says “What? I was just leaving.”

Some Dogs Simply March to Their Own Beat

And there’s something so sweet about a dog that loves her family so much that even a few hours apart is too much. Haarlem wasn’t being a brat — she just wanted to go home.

If your dog is a drama queen, you’re not alone. Dogs like Haarlem remind us that our dogs are full of drama and emotions (just like us, but with even less chill), especially when they’re away from the ones they love.

Treat your dog to an extra squeeze today. They feel it all … and then some. 🐾
