Clever Beagle Tries to Escape Shelter and Gets Caught

Buttermilk the Beagle had one goal in mind: to escape the animal shelter. Her determination left the staff at The Isle Of Wight County Animal Shelter in Windsor, Virginia, utterly amazed when they caught her in the act of trying to break free.

This spirited pup demonstrated impressive climbing skills as she scaled the kennel fence. Just as she was about to make her great escape, a worker spotted her and recorded the moment. Realizing she had an audience, Buttermilk quickly retreated back to safety.

When questioned about her antics, Buttermilk flashed a guilty look at the staff, wagged her tail, and slinked away, as if fully aware of her mischief.

The shelter shared on their Facebook page, “While we can only guess the journeys of our strays, Buttermilk has shown us exactly how she might have ended up here.” They cautioned future adopters, saying, “This little lady is tiny but packs a punch with her climbing abilities!”

They also reassured everyone, “NO BEAGLES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO.” To keep her safe, the staff moved Buttermilk to a different kennel, stating, “She was unharmed after her climb, and we ensured she was examined promptly. We’re taking preventive measures to stop any future escape attempts.”

Luckily, Buttermilk has an approved adopter lined up, set to take her home after her spay surgery this week. It seems all her climbing was simply her excitement to join a new family!
