Puppy With Broken Leg Abandoned in Woods Finally Gets a Second Chance

An 8-month-old puppy, injured and alone, fought for survival in the woods for two grueling weeks until a compassionate soul discovered him and reached out for help.

This lovable puppy had been callously abandoned by his owner, left with nothing but his bed, a few old toys, and a bag of sealed dog food. He was never tied up, yet he remained by his bed, unable to move due to his injury. When rescuers arrived, he wagged his tail in relief at the sight of his saviors.

Sadly, the local shelter lacked the funds for his medical treatment, putting his life in jeopardy. Without immediate intervention, he faced euthanasia. Fortunately, Humans and Animals United, an animal rescue organization in Florida, stepped up to save him and named him Hank. They rushed him to a veterinarian, where it was discovered that he had a broken leg.

“Hank has been staying at the veterinary hospital to gain some weight before his surgery. This poor pup was so emaciated. The surgeon estimates that his leg had been broken for over two weeks while he was abandoned in the woods,” the rescue shared.

Hank is now safe, receiving the necessary care thanks to the kindness of donors and the hard work of the animal hospital staff. Despite his traumatic beginnings, Hank remains affectionate towards both humans and other dogs. He is set to undergo surgery on his leg, and once he heals, he will be ready to find a loving forever home.

His touching rescue story gained traction on Facebook, and Humans and Animals United announced they are accepting adoption applications for this handsome boy. They expressed, “We simply cannot fathom why anyone would leave him with a broken leg and his belongings in the woods. Whoever abandoned him should know that Hank is safe now and will never know suffering again.”
